New York Fashion Week: BCBG
Max Azria showed his BCBG collection on Friday. BCBG used to be regarded as a second-ran, a label that mostly copied trends from other labels. But this year Max is also designing a collection for the Herve Leger label he acquired years ago. And, he's said he may go public in 2009, so suddenly BCBG is looking a lot more interesting. Personally, I've got nothing against wearable clothes. Fashion snobs will say the collection doesn't belong on the runway -- and maybe they've got a point. But that can certainly be said about dozens of labels. What is interesting about this BCBG show is that it is clear he'll have no problem differentiating his Herve Leger collection from it. There wasn't a bandage dress or even a tight skirt to be seen. A blessing for those of us without Posh Spice's figure.
