Art and Fashion -- From Bags To Windows

The relationship with fashion and art strike again with Tod's latest window campaign. Artists Patrick Norguet, Ineke Hans and Brit duo Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby recently flew to Italy in request to create props to dress the windows of Tod's flagships. Chief executive officer Della Valle believes "Store windows are a brand's business card, and for this reason, ours will be modern, impactful and influenced by modern art without forgetting quality and luxury." It seems Tod's is onto something. Lets not forget Louis Vuitton's accessory collaboration with Richard Prince last season and Jimmy Choo's 2008 limited edition clutch bags as they teamed up with US pop artist Richard Philips. Although both accessory partnerships were a success it seems a step in the right direction to involve the artist as the curators of the windows. Maybe we should go one further and have the design houses hire curators to design their flagship stores?
