Fashion Mentor Daphne Guinness Sheds Some Stock

There's more than one way to invest in a young designer. Daphne Guinness does it the old fashioned way -- patronage. Like Isabella Blow, who famously sold some paintings and bought every piece of Alexander McQueen's first collection, Guinness puts her money behind designers she believes in. She also has been known to help them out with loans, places to stay, party invites and connections. On April 29th she's going to auction off some of her amazing archive to benefit a charity called Womankind. The only labels mentioned by Catwalk Queen are the big ones, YSL, Gucci, Valentino, etc. So I wonder if she's keeping back works by her proteges for posterity. Or maybe all their names just couldn't all fit on the press release. □
