Did Beyonce Cause Bergdorf Men's To Cancel Its Versace Order?
The New York Post reports that a minion kicked Bergdorf Goodman's men's fashion director out of his seat at the runway show in Milan in favor of one of Beyonce's bodyguards. Tommy Fazio then asked to be escorted to the door and canceled his Versace showroom appointment for the following day. Does this mean the store is going to drop the label? The Post says, yes. I am not so sure. Business is business and although Tommy has every right to be annoyed -- those celebrities have screwed up more than a few fashion shows and, after all, these point of these shows is to show the collection to the store buyers, not to the celebrities -- taking that tiff onto the sales floor doesn't make any sense. If Versace men's wear is selling well at Bergdorf Goodman, then Tommy will have to buy it, no matter how annoying the celebrity antics at the show. But if it isn't selling ... well, then, I think Tommy is about to get a BIG bunch of flowers. □
