Tommy Hilfiger might be the first company to go public in 2008 with Prada close behind and Ferragamo to follow. This seems to be the year of the fashion initial public offering despite the stock markets low stature and retail plunge. (WWD)

Hilary Clinton wears it well. If the presidential vote were decided upon style, Ms. Clinton seems to be the elected candidate. Karl Lagerfeldfeld is amongst her fan base stating "My favorite is Ms. Clinton -- she is so clever and so brilliant that you see only her face." (WWD)

Creative coalitions are the next wave of fashion company. Groups such as Acne Jeans, Surface to Air and Kitsune were founded by advertising executives and in addition to making clothes and music, they also offer advertising and design expertise.(WWD)

The developing markets of the luxury map welcome a new player to the team. Brazil joins China, Russia and Dubai. Carlos Ferrerinha from MCF consulting says, "because the rich and upper-middle class have gotten richer and because Brazil is still a young luxury fashion market, it has lots of room for growth." Former model Carla Bruni wears a new Christian Dior gem on her finger, given my French President Nicholas Sarkozy. Model, singer songwriter, and soon first wife. Wedding plans are said to be set for February.(Vogue UK)
