Brands On Sex & The City: Who Ponied Up?

The Daily Mail says that in order to get brands into the Sex and the City film, "money was offered, calls made, favors called in and publicists begged." Sounds pretty much like Sex and the City the TV show. But this time it isn't just fashion brands. Now companies like Campari were willing to spend up to $500,000 so Carrie would sip their liquor. Could you imagine? Carrie drinking Campari rather then a Cosmopolitan? Smells like product placement. Well, quelle surprise. But not all the products in the film are getting raves. eiffeltower_press_large.jpg Style Bubble hated the Timmy Woods' Eiffel Tower bag (and much prefers the Anne Valerie Hash Eiffel Tower shoes, above.) And Kim Cattrall has decided she's pro-PETA and anti-fur so all of the furs she wears in the film will be donated to PETA, according to the New York Post. And what is PETA going to do with a load of furs? Donate them to homeless people, once they have painted giant red-Xs on the back. So they can't be sold and they can't really be worn (without making oneself a very literal target). And that, friends, is why PETA gets so little respect. Come on Catterall, wise up. Sell those furs and donate the money to a homeless shelter or any organization that is more concerned with people than animals. □
