Lanvin's Answer To The Barbie

Now that I am a mother I have all new fashion concerns. Namely, how to keep my daughter away from Little Pink Pony, Barbie, and that putrid shade of pink that all little girls love. It isn't easy. She's not even in school yet, but peer pressure is already winning. I buy her boiled wool dark pink jumpers in Paris, she favors the nylon fairy princess outfit in the playgroup bin. British Vogue reports Alber Elbaz recently put "mini-mannequins" in the windows of the Lanvin store in Paris. They were so popular, he's going to release a line of 800 limited-edition ladies each season. Where one writer sees mini-mannequins, another sees "dolls." If it will save me from boxes of Barbies, I'm going to rush to get myself down on the waiting list.
