Fashion Rocks: Who Wins?

I missed Fashion Rocks this year because I was in India. But I greatly enjoyed the Business of Fashion coverage of the event. He says that the transformation from moderately glitzy fundraiser for The Prince's Trust to big buck business is complete. Today WWD says that Conde Nast (parent company of Portfolio) which benefited from ad pages in the fashion rocks supplement, will benefit even more with the Movie Rocks supplement out this December -- some $40 million more.

All of this means that the events themselves become rather tedious for the people attending. Imran's description of the frequent made-for-TV breaks in the proceedings reminded me much of another event Anna Wintour helped organize -- the VH-1 fashion awards. Of course they are now best remembered as the launching pad for Zoolander.
