Green Goods At Barney's

Barney's is introducing a new all organic with specially-made designs from Stella McCartney and Philip Lim. It will be organic, ethical and sustainable down to the dyes. I'm in India now and such material is considered a norm, well at least the organic bit. I can't wait to see what the McCartney collection looks like, and I can't waint to see what it costs. Julie Gilhart, the fashion director at Barney's was already warning WWD, noting the additional time spent in sourcing and production. But she promises that it won't read organic "in any way, shape or form." The stores are also going green in other promising categories, like children's toys. Gilhart promises that it isn't a fad, but a commitment. Let's hope the new owners feel so too.
