Paris Fashion Week: Spottings at Jasmine di Milo

Having Mohammed Al Fayed as a father has its pluses and its minuses. On the plus side, his daughter Jasmine got to show her collection at the Ritz, which he owns. She snagged Susanne Tide-Frater, the former fashion director of Harrods, which he also owns, to do P.R. and, one assumes, help with the merchandising. On the minus side, everyone assumes that you got where you are because your father is Mohammed Al Fayed. But clearly for Jasmine the pluses are outweighing the minuses. I was surprised then to learn that her collection of wearable and reasonably affordable dresses (think $1,000 range) has a distribution of over 130 stores including some famous names like Joyce in Hong Kong and L'Eclaireur in Paris. What Roberto and Eva Cavalli were doing at her show is beyond me. Friends or fans? I don't know. But the dresses were more "Cavallli" than the recent Cavalli collection and Roberto was eyeing them with interest. □
