Matthew Williamson Rocks The House
I've seen some things in my days as a fashion journalist. I've seen Iggy Pop perform at a Versace show. I've seen the Rolling Stones and David Bowie perform for the VH-1 Fashion Awards. But I have never seen anything make a fashion crowd as happy as seeing Prince perform at the Matthew Williamson show this morning. He began singing from his front row seat and jumped up mid-way to take his place at the back of the runway with his band and his dancers. The crowd was on its feet clapping and cheering.

The clothes were good too. It was a bit of a Matthew Williamson retrospective, this being his ten year anniversary and all. There's a more complete Matthew Williamson retrospective coming on the 17th of October at London's Design Museum. Tonight is Matthew's 'birthday' party. Prince will undoubtedly be there. But will he perform again? Let's hope so.
I have no idea how much money his new backers -- TSM Capital -- contributed to the show, but when you see the coverage tomorrow I think you'll agree it was worth it.
