Fashion's New Money Matchmakers: Matthew Williamson

Two of the former fashion executives now in the business of matching designers with financing have teamed up to buy 22 percent of Matthew Williamson. Jeffrey Aronsson, formerly of Donna Karan and Marvin Traub, formerly of Bloomingdales, will provide advice as well as money to the Williamson team. Aslaug Magnusdottir, who now works with Traub at the newly formed TSM Capital, organized an earlier investment in Williamson when she was at Baugur and told me that the company was keen to continue to work with her. Matthew and his business partner Joseph Velosa still have 52 percent of the company.

I'll be covering New York fashion week for the first time in 10 years and doing daily video reports for Portfolio.com. Magnusdottir has agreed to talk to me on camera about investment and funding options for young designers. If you have any questions for her please feel free to post them or, if you're shy, send them over via email.
