What Was The Hot Trend Summer? Criminal Chic

WWD has a wrap up of the wardrobe for the post-perp courthouse runway walk -- Paris, Nicole and Lindsay. Commentators seem to agree that they probably care more about their images in the papers than their sentences in the slammer. What's the key element of this summer's criminal chic? Black. Black trousers on Paris, black dress on Nicole. The WWD montage of historical photos didn't include my favorite police station red carpet look -- that of Kate Moss in her beige Prada trench, black leggings, t-shirt and headband. It was demure without being an obvious attempt to kiss up to the officials. Of course, she knew going in that she was off the hook. Not so with Lindsay who does her courthouse runway walk this Friday. Will she wear Jil Stuart, with whom she has a brand affiliation? Or, more interestingly, would they want her to? And what does it say about fashion if they do?
