Reason 10857000 Why Southern California Ain't Like Any Other Place On Earth

I had to explain to my husband the other day the difference between the CHiPs and the LAPD. He's British, so it was OK. But still one of those moments when you realize how odd it is that we have a whole police force just to patrol our highways. (Pop quiz: does anyone know why we drive on parkways and park on driveways?)

Anyway, my father is addicted to the internet -- and to monitoring police activity (he used to have one of those radios that would tap into all the dispatch calls). Today he was checking the traffic on our route from Laguna to Carlsbad (as one does before setting out on the highways of Southern CA these days) and came across this, care of the CHP:

Sadly, I was raiding local vintage shops or I would have rushed right over. It was the word -- I mean words -- 'suit case' (sic) that got me. 'Bag' is too likely to mean fake, but a Vuitton suitcasecase, now that's something worth dodging freeway traffic for.
