Roland Mouret Back In The Fray on Net-A-Porter
The stats are in from the grandest virtual trunk show. Designer Roland Mouret showed his new line, RM, during couture week in Paris and made it available for pre-order on Net-A-Porter.com.
Women's Wear Daily reports:
In the first four days, customers from 22 countries placed $500,000 worth of preorders. More than 250,000 visitors have viewed the runway video.
The $500,000 is nothing to sneeze at. For one thing it means that Net-a-Porter can use its customers money to pay for its order. But it is the 22 countries that interests me the most. While brands are plotting their global retail domination, why haven't more of them chosen to launch online shops first that could cater to these far-flung customers? The Business of Fashion asks why more of the big UK retailers haven't followed in the footsteps of Net-a-Porter and the US luxury stores with online shops.
