The Skinny On Skinny Models, London Edition

An independent report commissioned by the British Fashion Council will recommend that girls under 16 be banned from modeling, but that size shouldn't come into consideration. The full report is to be issued Wednesday.

In a previous post I suggested that eating disorders were just one of the problems facing models today and suggested that modeling agencies should be held more accountable for the problems faced by their clients. The full report also gives guidelines on how models can complain about working conditions and asks for modeling agencies to be educated about eating disorders. It all sounds good, but I look forward to seeing the full report to see just how tough the BFC is going to be. As discussed before, if the industry is left to regulate itself, it is unlikely that it will be very tough on transgressors. But right now something is better than nothing.
