The Battle Of The Bags

When upscale designer Anya Hindmarch decided to make a stab at helping the green movement, her I Am Not A Bag bags were quickly picked up by the public last week, happy to get a bit of the Hindmarch name for only 5 UK pounds (circa $10). Then the Evening Standard (subscription required) disclosed that the bags are made in China, which is not PC, given current labor laws (or the lack thereof) or green, given the air miles it took to fly them over.

I don't blame Anya, I am sure she had the best instincts at heart. But the myriad of issues surrounding green anything make it a PR minefield.

It is easy to point out where things have gone wrong, but harder to make sure they go right. I hope the plastic bag scandal doesn't put off other efforts.
