Brand Killers: Who Has The Power

Posh Spice is moving to LA. Aside from the Scientologists, there's another group of professionals who should be afraid, very afraid. And that's the city's fashion designers. Posh is one of the few skinny women in the world who can make anything look bad. It's said that when she went through her Gucci phase, Tom Ford was beside himself, begging the PR office to stop lending her things. Problem was -- she was buying them. She's also been blamed for taking the lustre off Roberto Cavalli. These days just about everyone in Europe is hip to what happens when Victoria Beckham puts on an outfit. One retailer has said, "As soon as I see her in anything, I take it off our site."

Designers of LA, consider yourself warned.

So, who else can kill a brand? It's an inexact science, but in general be wary of:

1. Anyone who rose to fame via My Space
2. Anyone who rose to fame via reality TV
3. Anyone more famous for who they married than what they do
