Space NK comes to Green Street

One of the UK's favorite beauty retaliers, Space NK, will open on New York Greene's Street in May. According to one of the consultants working on the launch, many New Yorkers are confusing the concept with that of Sephora, the much trumped LVMH-backed beauty retailer that never really lived up to its hype. Let me put it to you this way -- if Sephora is the Macy's of Manhattan, Space NK will be the Barney's. Fewer products, more carefully chosen, more artfully displayed. For a preview of the aesthetic, check out the Wieden + Kennedy London blog. And on the trivia note: Space NK is owned by a London private equity fund called Manzanita Capital, run by William Fisher, the second son of the Gap's founders. □
