The Picture of Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurship by young adults is a big deal! All the kids are doing it! Ok, that's a bit cheeky and overstated but once one of the big 3 network evening news programs picks up on a story, it adds a degree of confirmation to something we've seen developing for a while.
That's what happened on Thursday night when the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric devoted a segment to college students and recent graduates opting to go the entrepreneurial route rather than compete for entry-level corporate jobs. Scott Gerber, the founder of the Young Entrepreneur Council who has contributed to Portfolio.com, got a national platform for his be-your-own-boss message.
"Entrepreneurship has become a viable career path, whereas it used to be seen as a renegade's choice," Gerber said.
