Big Primping at Gilt City
Gilt City, which is closing several of its offices in secondary cities as part of cutbacks at its parent company, is putting its best face forward.
Beginning today, it is offering a redesigned site, adding some extra features starting this afternoon, and continuing over the next several days.
Among the improvements: a section called “Curator’s Picks,” which will feature a new group of “evergreen luxury offers” hand-selected by Gilt staffers—experiences that are available to Gilt City members not just as local deals, but all year long. It’s a move that is similar to what Fab.com recently began doing when it added search functionality that makes the site less of a buy-it-now operation and more of an e-commerce one.
The redesign also includes better neighborhood filters and search functionality by offer category, location, and price.
Another new add: gifting functionality that will let members present a Gilt City service or experience as a “sophisticated gift” rather than as a standard redemption certificate, plus an improved mobile app that will include enhanced location-based services through mobile devices.
