Show Us Your (Wild, Bold, Extreme) Cards
When you hand out your business card, does it make an impression? Do you think your choice of card size or color or graphics has helped you land business? If you've got a card that truly stands out, we want to see it.
The idea to ask for stellar examples of catchy business cards came to us as we were putting together a post about what makes for a great card. In that item, which was published today, Moo creative director Dan Rubin had one big piece of advice—don't be average. “Pick an extreme,” Rubin told Portfolio.com's Michael del Castillo. “Either go super-restrained or totally over the top. Anything else will be interpreted as average."
Get more of Rubin's design advice by clicking here, but if you've already mastered the killer business card and want to show it off to us and the world, do the following:
- Take a color scan or a photo of your card and email it to ideas@portfolio.com. If there's personal information you don't want anyone else to see (a phone number, perhaps), black out the information before you send the card.
- Or mail us a copy of the card to Portfolio.com, c/o Michael del Castillo; 1166 Avenue of the Americas, 14th floor; New York, NY, 10036. Again, black out any personal information.
- Or scan the card and post it to our Facebook page.
- Tell us the story behind your card. Why did you or your bosses pick the design? What kind of reactions have you received? Has your card helped drive your business? Give us the story of your card in 150 words or less.
Send in your card before end-of-day on Friday, February 10, so it can be included in a photo slideshow next week of the best cards we get. Diamond-studded cards are not a must.
