Department of Excess: Outrageous Home Theaters
Now that home theaters are within reach to many mere mortals, those who have seemingly unlimited means are taking a fantasy approach to their theaters.
Why not watch The Dark Knight in a bat cave, or take in a Star Trek marathon from the bridge of a starship, or see Star Wars from the Death Star? All of those venues have been recreated in people's homes, according to Walyou.com, which has a feature titled 15 Geeky Home Theater Themes to Ravish Your Senses.
One theater (pictured above) cost its owner $6 million. For that, music engineer/producer Jeremy Kipnis outfitted his theater with 39 speaker units and 36 amplifiers.
