AA Flight Attendants May Strike Soon
Flight attendants at American Airlines could begin a strike soon, after the National Mediation Board agreed Tuesday to consider allowing the flight attendant union to end mediation with the airline. If mediation ends, that would put the airline and union in a 30-day cooling-off period. Once that's done, the union could begin a strike.
The Association of Professional Flight Attendants president Laura Glading told the Dallas Business Journal the union "is not afraid to strike if we have to."
American reportedly started training other employees to fill in as flight attendants in case of a strike in February as a contingency plan, and in the first week of March the union said it would vote on a strike after saying in a statement that the airline walked away from the bargaining table.
