Hey, Barack, Stop Dissing Vegas

President Barack Obama keeps talking about blowing money in Las Vegas, and local politicians wish he would just stop.

The Associated Press reports the president has said people shouldn’t blow the college savings at the Vegas craps tables.

But times are very tough in the desert too. And Nevada politicians are showing their displeasure with the president for singling out trips to Las Vegas as frivolous when the city needs all the tourist dollars it can rake in.

"Enough is enough!" Democratic Congresswoman Shelley Berkley said in a statement. "President Obama needs to stop picking on Las Vegas and he needs to let Americans decide for themselves how and where to spend their hard-earned vacation dollars."

The president wrote a note to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, another Nevada politician, backpedaling and saying that Las Vegas was a great destination, and he always had fun when he went there.

The firestorm may have the president wishing he’d made his remarks in Vegas itself, rather than North Nashua, New Hampshire. After all, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.
