Toy Price War Launched
The Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal writes: Target Corp. has slashed prices on some top toys for the holiday season by as much as 50 percent in an aggressive push to challenge Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. and other competitors.
Discounted items include Barbie, G.I. Joe, and Fisher-Price toys. The price cuts went into effect October 1.
Minneapolis-based Target also will match locally advertised prices on toys and other items it carries in its stores.
“We are confident that we have low prices every day,” Tony Fisher, Target’s divisional merchandising manager for toys and sporting goods, said in a statement. “We continually shop the competition so our guests don’t have to, and the additional discounts will help our guests make the most of their budgets this holiday season.”
Bentonville, Arkansas-based Wal-Mart recently announced that it will offer more than 100 toys and games for $10 each during the holiday shopping season.
