Moore Aims Movie at Madoff
Michael Moore wants his latest movie, Capitalism: A Love Story, shown in prison. Actually, he wants it shown in a particular prison to a particular inmate.
The muckraking documentarian wants his movie, a screed attacking the evils of capitalism, shown at Butner Federal Correctional Complex in North Carolina, to the prison’s most famous inmate, fraudster Bernie Madoff. Madoff is doing 150 years for running the biggest Ponzi scheme in history.
Moore’s latest film might be perfect for Madoff. It’s a broad attack on corporatism and greed, according to reviews, which are predictably mixed. If you like Moore’s schtick—trying to make a citizen’s arrest of AIG’s CEO, pointing out that Goldman Sachs is Barack Obama’s biggest campaign contributor—you’ll love the movie.
Madoff, having just sold a beach house of his own, might be particularly interested in the scenes of families being evicted from their homes.
