44, Day 76: From Prague to North Korea
An ongoing log of the daily activities of the 44th president of the United States during his first 100 days:
Just hours before President Obama was scheduled to give a speech in Prague today about the importance of a world without nuclear weapons, North Korea launched a rocket over Japan into the Pacific Ocean. Obama said that North Korea was in violation of international rules and he called on the U.N. Security Council to punish the country, but a meeting by the council ended without any such action. Air Force One touched down in Ankara, Turkey Sunday night for the president's two-day visit in the mostly Muslim country. Turkish police were prepared for demonstrations as the country has had a strained relationship with the U.S. since the 2003 Iraq invasion. [Washington Post]
