Spitzer's Madam Preparing Her Memoir
Cecil Suwal, the "New York Madam" who procured prostitutes for former Governor Eliot Spitzer, is preparing to shop her memoir to publishers. In it, she will recount her years running the infamous escort service for mega-rich and influential clientele.
Spitzer's patronage of the club was the catalyst for his downfall last March. Since her release on bail in April 2008, Suwal, 24, has maintained close to a 4.0 grade-point average at Fordham University, where she's studying psychology.
A federal judge sentenced Suwal to six months in prison in late January for her role in the prostitution ring, where a "date" might mean a transcontinental flight and a $30,000 fee for the escort.
Suwal will begin serving her sentence in June, once her spring courses are completed. Similar book deals, including the memoirs of Hollywood Madam Heidi Fleiss, have fetched million-dollar-plus advances in the past.
Meanwhile, Suwal's ex-lover and co-conspirator, Mark Brener, 62, sits in federal prison for his part in the Emperor's Club. A federal judge sentenced him to 30 months earlier this month.
