Dimon in Davos: "Business" as Usual

J.P. Morgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon threw one of the only banking parties at this year's World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, Switzerland -- and seemed to get his money's worth.

Dimon's cocktail party, at a piano bar on the main Davos strip Thursday night, drew a mix of journalists, Morgan clients, and some big Davos "gets," including former Prime Minister Tony Blair of Britain and former Vice President Al Gore.

In years past, the party would hardly have stood out among the many lavish corporate fêtes and soirées usually held during the Forum here in Davos. But this year it's something of a curiosity amid the nervousness of Wall Street firms, many of which were leery of seeming flashy at a time of layoffs and a government bailout.

Dimon, greeting his guests, was unapologetic. We've still got a business to run, he said.
