Keep Those Checks Coming
"The check is in the mail" and "We're from the government; we're here to help," are said to be two of the three biggest lies, according to the old joke. (The third? Well, nudge nudge, wink wink and all that.)
The government, however, is saying not to fear. It will all come true in the end.
The Treasury is still sending out economic stimulus checks many months after the $152 billion rebate package was passed by Congress and as Democrats consider a stimulus package that could be as large as $500 billion.
Treasury announced today that it sent out more than 1.5 million additional checks, totaling $1 billion, in November. In October, it distributed 1.46 million payments, or about $976 million worth.
"While mass disbursement of stimulus checks ended July 11, small batches of payments continue to be sent out to American households," Treasury said.
They could certainly use them.
