Starbucks In Hot Water
Have you heard about Starbucks' election day promotion promising free coffee to anyone who votes?
Well, not that they had any way of verifying that people were being truthful anyway, but the coffee chain has run into a little legal trouble with their generous offer.
It turns out that offering gifts in exchange for votes violates election laws in many states, even if the incentives are not candidate-specific.
So Starbucks has altered its offer, according to Slate, to ensure that you can still get your tall brewed coffee gratis without landing Howard Schulz in the clink: the freebie now extends to all comers, regardless of whether you've been to the polls.
