What happened to the "I Am Rich" iPhone?
Apple did indeed pull the $999.99 app from its iTunes store, but not until German programmer Armin Heinrich apparently netted $5,600 from purchases.
Through accident or intention, eight suckers, errr... customers, bought the program -- which does nothing except display a blinking red light on your iPhone to let others know that you are in fact rich enough to spend $1,000 on something with no utility. The app was available for just a day.
Unfortunately, in an email exchange with the Los Angeles Times, Heinrich said nothing to confirm our earlier thesis that the whole thing was just a neo-dadaist reflection on the commoditization of art.
In that case, luxury goods mogul Francois Pinault should take a meeting with this guy as soon as possible.
