Who Says You Can't Take It With You?
You have to admire a man who takes pride in his work. And Fredric J. Baur was nothing if not proud of his signature achievement: The Pringles can.
Before he passed away on May 4, the inventor asked his children to commemorate his achievement by cremating his remains and burying some of his ashes in one of his cans, the Associated Press reported.
Baur, who was 89, was an organic chemist and food storage technician for Cincinnati-based Proctor & Gamble, specializing in research and development and quality control.
Besides the Pringles container, Baur also invented several frying oils and a freeze-dried ice cream, the Daily News in New York reported. But his son, Lawrence Baur, said that nothing came close to the crowning achievement of his Pringles can.
