Executive Recruiter, Heal Thyself

Call it irony, call it bad press, but Heidrick & Struggles would do better to keep mum about its own headhunting struggles.

The self-proclaimed "world's premier executive search and leadership consulting firm" apparently had some difficulty trying to fill a very senior position within its own ranks.

In a news release issued yesterday announcing the appointment of Richard J. Caldera as Chief Human Resources Officer, the company's C.E.O. let slip that "Heidrick & Struggles has been without a global head of HR for more than a year."

Really, Heidrick & Struggles? It took an executive search firm that long to search for an executive of its own? Maybe they should've hired Korn/Ferry International to help out.
