Live-Blogging the Starbucks Annual Meeting: Howard Schultz, Blogger
Starbucks Chief Technology Officer Chris Bruzzo came on stage to announce Initiative #3, the launch of mystarbucksidea.com, a social networking site for Starbucks nuts.
It's a Digg-style online community where you can go to share your ideas for Starbucks, and users can "vote up" the ideas that customers have shared. The best ideas will be discussed at a corporate level, and then put into motion.
So, we're witnessing the beginning of Starbucks 2.0.
Not only that, but the site has its own "Starbucks Idea Partners" (aka bloggers). 48 experts from all aspects of the company will be committed to daily dialogue on the site.
And oh yeah - and Howard Schultz himself will be a blogger.
Just before Bruzzo came on stage, Starbucks also announced, as Initiative #2, a deeper partnership with Conservation International. This will be a comprehensive effort to address the issue of deforestation where coffee is grown.
