No Deal With Spitzer, Feds Say
Whatever led to the timing of Eliot Spitzer's announcement that he will step down as governor of New York on Monday, it had nothing to do with negotiating a deal with federal prosecutors.
That, at least, was the unambiguous message in a statement from Michael J. Garcia, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York.
"There is no agreement between this Office and Governor Eliot Spitzer, relating to his resignation or any other matter," Garcia said.
