Anyone Want the World's Greatest Golf Course?
It appears that nothing—not even the land of William Wallace and Sean Connery—can stand in the way of Donald Trump's fabulousness.
Although a local Scotland council rejected Trump's proposal to build a $2 billion golf resort in Menie Estate, a picturesque swath of land off the coast of Scotland, the Donald is neither miffed nor deterred.
"We are surprised by the decision," said Rhona Graff, a spokeswoman for Trump. "It would have been a great development. We are considering an appeal and also considering doing something spectacular in another location. Sadly it will not be in Scotland."
Well, Scotland and its coastline are clearly losing out. The resort was to include two championship courses, as well as 1,000 holiday homes, 500 private houses and an eight-story hotel, according to the Daily Telegraph. It would also destroy some of Britain's best sand dunes and wildlife habitat, the paper added.
Which nation, then, will be home to the "world's best golf course" that Trump had tried to bequeath to the birthplace of the sport? The Donald remains undecided.
"He is just weighing his options," said Graff.
