Loyal Customers? Dunder Mifflin's Got 'Em

What better way to get away from the office than to spend a weekend at The Office?

More than 3,000 fans of the NBC sitcom The Office flooded Scranton, Pennsylvania—the very real city that is home of the program's fictional office—last weekend.

About a dozen cast members also turned up, joining in a question-and-answer session with fans and mock events lifted from the series. These included The Office Olympics and an "uncommon stockholder's meeting" of Dunder Mifflin, the program's fictional paper-supply company.

Some fans drove from as far as Florida and paid as much as $250 for a three-day pass to all events—the coveted Corporate Badge—organizers said. Cheaper admission packages named for some of the mocking job titles in the show—regional manager, assistant (to the) regional manager, and intern—were also available, as were tickets to individual events.

A convention of radical conformists, however, is something best appreciated in person. For anyone who missed this year's gathering (next year's is already being planned), Portfolio.com has a pair of videos of the event.
