Has the iPhone Been Hacked?
The blog Engadget.com is reporting that a six-man team has officially unlocked the hold that AT&T has on the iPhone.
"It's actually real, it's not a hoax," says Engadget's Ryan Block in a video recording where he installs his T-Mobile SIM card, which identifies his T-Mobile account information, into his iPhone and successfully makes a call.
It seems the folks at iPhoneSIMFree.com have developed a software application that enables iPhone users to effectively ditch AT&T and install any other SIM-based wireless service they want. Apple had signed a five-year exclusivity contract with AT&T.
So far, the software isn't publicly available. And something tells us that Apple will catch onto this before the iPhoneSIMFree.com guys have figured out how to make a buck off of it.
