Speculative Dealmaking

The hot new fashion label Proenza Schouler sold off a 45 percent stake to Valentino Fashion Group for $3.7 million, in what seems like a lousy deal. Mediabistro founder Laurel Touby sold her company to JupiterMedia for a whopping $23 million.

Is there a deal to be had here?
