Recession Ahead? Americans Say Yes
Call it the Greenspan effect. According to a new poll by Bloomberg and the Los Angeles Times, most Americans expect the U.S. economy will fall into recession within a year.
Last week's rosy jobs numbers apparently did little to appease them. Six in 10 of the 1,373 adults polled during the last week say we'll see a recession soon.
Before you bulls out there brush it off as just another misguided opinion poll, take note: When the L.A. Times conducted a similar poll in December of 2000, 64 percent predicted an economic retraction.
We remember all too well what happened next.
