BREAKING: Agreement on Bailout

House and Senate leaders apparently have reached an agreement on terms for the financial bailout.

Senate Banking Chairman Chris Dodd left a two-hour negotiating session and told reporters Democrats and Republicans found common ground. "We are very confident that we can act expeditiously," he said, according to MSNBC.com.

"I now expect that we will indeed have a plan that can pass the House, pass the Senate (and) be signed by the president," said Sen. Bob Bennett, R-Utah.

Lawmakers are set to meet with President Bush this afternoon to discuss the bailout plan. Also in that meeting will be the two men vying for the presidency, Senator John McCain and Senator Barack Obama.
