Hillary's Bosnia Stretch
Okay, so maybe there wasn't sniper fire as they landed. Hillary Clinton discovered the dangers of getting it wrong when you're claiming to be the foreign policy expert. he exaggerated the dangers she and her entourage faced on a visit to Bosnia. Last night, CBS showed the footage of her calmly on the tarmac, hardly dodging bullets at all as she implied. Is it a huge deal? No. Can she afford to make any mistakes at this point? Not really. A couple of columns ago, I noted that this is what happens when a hotly contested election is about...nothing. The policy differences between Clinton and Obama are so slight--sorry, I'm not buying that the mandate on health-care is pivotal--you wind up with an election that's all about whether some blowhard retired general likens Bill Clinton to McCarthy or Clinton exaggerates her role in Bosnia. It's the narcissism of small differences, writ large. As always, i note that my spouse works for Clinton.
