Obama -Bradley
Who's the best veep for Obama? Let's assume he wraps it up a week from today. One pick would be Bill Bradley, the former New Jersey Senator and famous star of the New York Knicks. He's got longtime Senate experience, having served three terms but since he's been out since 1996 he's not party of the problem, as they say. At 65, come election time, he's not a kid. He was an early Obama supporter. Like Obama, he prides himself as a racial uniter. (This was a big theme of his 2000 campaign.) He could help with New Jersey which is a state where McCain could be competitive. The downsides? He's liberal. He's been around a long time. He may not have the attack dog instincts that a veep sometimes needs, although if Obama is trying to breed a new kind of politics he won't need them. Geezers may appreciate that the name of the ticket sounds faintly like Omar Bradley, the World War II general. Best of all, the image of the Obama and Bradley shooting hoops together. A nice contrast to McCain.
