Such a scenario would pose a risk not only to economic growth, safety, and national security, but to life itself in some areas. He reminded his audience that the Darfur crisis grew out of a water shortage.

Gates' Plea to Stop World Poverty
Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates spoke about 21st century capitalism today, saying that the needs of impoverished countries can be met through creative use of market forces. "We have to find a way to make the aspects of capitalism that serve wealthier people serve poorer people as well," said Gates.
