Airlines are cutting back on flights, travelers are cutting back on spending, and, in many places, a slew of new hotels are opening. Many properties—business and leisure—are trying to lure guests with extras.
Courtyard by Marriott Hong Kong
The 25-story hotel opened in April with nightly rates starting at $199. But the Summer Delight package costs $166 a night and includes a guaranteed upgrade to a pricier harbor-view room and a $20 credit for room service or meals in the hotel restaurant.
Sandals Grande Antigua
The all-inclusive couples-only resort usually charges $750 a night, a price that covers all meals and beverages, water sports, golf, airport transfers, tips, and taxes. The Fly Free Promotion includes a $1,100-per-couple airfare credit for a three-night stay. There are additional discounts up to 30 percent for longer stays.
The Venetian Las Vegas
A 650-square-foot Venetian Luxury Suite has been selling for about $279 a night this summer. But the Greatest Escape rate cuts the price to as low as $199 on weekdays and $219 on weekends.
The Tremont House, Galveston, TX
The historic 119-room property is now allied with the Wyndham chain and charges $139 a night this summer for a basic room. Travelers receive a $50 gas card when they book a three-night stay between Sunday and Thursday via Wyndham's website.
Hilton Hawaiian Village, Honolulu
The sprawling beachfront resort near Waikiki is enticing travelers with a new Golf and Spa Escape Package. For $239 a night, it includes a room and one of three free options: two rounds of golf, two spa treatments, or a round of golf and a spa treatment.
