A Big Ride
The Airbus A380 is the largest passenger airplane ever built. Measuring more than 238 feet long and 23 feet wide, the plane has twice the capacity of the Boeing 747. For commercial travelers, it can carry 555 passengers in a three-class configuration. But for a private owner, it can accommodate just one. The price tag to outfit the plane: between $50 million and $150 million.
Blueprints
S-curve pathways link customizable areas on the A380. Toward the back of the main and upper decks are traditional rows of seats—business class on the main deck, coach class on the upper deck. The design is by Reiner Heim for Lufthansa Technik, which has about 40 percent of the market for designing the interiors of large private jets.
Upper Deck Lounge
Have a drink at the bar while watching TV on the big screen. Relax on the couches with colleagues or friends and watch the world go by below. And like everywhere else in the plane, a wireless networking system allows passengers to work or play as they see fit. This image, like the others presented here, are renderings of how a private A380 might look.
Main Deck Lounge
Think of this as a meeting room or an auditorium, perfect for announcing the latest acquisition to a gathering of up to 25-to-30 people. The main deck also has semiprivate suites with extendable sleeper-seats similar to those in first class on international commercial flights.
Main Deck Dining Room
Be seated at the table and indulge in a gourmet meal (prepared by a private chef, of course) or plot a corporate takeover. As in other areas of the plane, the dining room uses recessed lights that can be customized to suit the owner’s mood.
Upper Deck Guest Area
If every house needs at least one guest room, so does the world's biggest plane. This room has a sofa that can be used as a bed, plus a casual sitting area.
Upper Deck Bedroom
Spanning the entire width of the cabin, the master bedroom boasts a king-size bed, a sofa, and deep-pile carpeting. Plus, there's a bathroom complete with a shower.
Upper Deck Office
This A380 has everything needed to run a business: not only in-flight Web and email access, but the latest in entertainment systems.
