Thomas A. Bartlett is senior vice president - Investor Relations, a position he has held since June 2003. He is the corporation's primary liaison with the investment community and Verizon shareholders. Prior to his current assignment, Bartlett was president-Telecom Support for Verizon, a position he held since January 2003. He worked on a number of marketing, sales, operational, network and process issues within Verizon's Telecom organization. Prior to that, Bartlett was president-Global Solutions Inc., a Verizon business unit responsible for operating a cost-effective, global telecommunications network linking the United States with major cities in Europe, Asia and South America, developing and delivering a broad global voice, data and IP product set. These products were sold and serviced on both a retail and wholesale basis via a variety of distribution channels, globally. Prior to the Bell Atlantic/GTE merger, Bartlett was president and chief executive officer of Bell Atlantic International Wireless, part of the Bell Atlantic Global Wireless Group. He was responsible for the corporation's international wireless activities in high-growth markets in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia. He was also responsible for the corporation's wireless business development overseas. Bartlett launched digital wireless service for the first time in several international markets including Italy, Czech Republic and Mexico. Bartlett also served as chief executive officer of Grupo Iusacell (NYSE), the second-largest telecommunications company in Mexico. Bartlett has extensive wireless and international business experience. Previously, he held a number of senior executive positions at Bell Atlantic Mobile, including vice president ? business development, vice president for the greater Philadelphia operations, and President of The Northeast and Upstate New York markets, where he was responsible for all sales, marketing, engineering, administration, finance and network functions. As a Bell Atlantic expatriate located in London, Bartlett also served as CFO of the European operations of Bell Atlantic Business Systems Services, a former subsidiary that was the world's largest independent computer service organization. Subsequent to the European assignment he became the CFO/CIO for its U.S. operation. Bartlett has held a number of Verizon Board Directorships both in the U.S. and abroad. Several of these Board roles included assignments on the Board's audit, finance and compensation committees. Bartlett, a CPA, began his career in 1981 with Deloitte Haskins & Sells (now Deloitte Touche) in New York and worked on both of their audit and consulting staffs. In 1984, he joined the staff of Bell Atlantic Enterprises handling mergers and acquisitions. Bartlett has served on a number of external Boards. He is currently a Board Director of Prevention Education Inc., a New Jersey located not-for-profit charitable organization; serves on the Board of Advisors of the Rutgers School of Management, and is serving on the Audit/Finance committee of the Hopewell Township, NJ municipality, where he and his family currently live. Bartlett earned a degree in engineering from Lehigh University in 1980 and a M.B.A. from Rutgers University in 1981.
