Overview

Sir Michael Llewellyn-Smith had a distinguished career in the British diplomatic service, including postings to Moscow, Paris and Athens, culminating in positions as British Ambassador to Poland from 1991 to 1996 and British Ambassador to Greece between 1996 and 1999. He is currently a member of the council of London University, vice president of the British School of Athens, Honorary Fellow of St Antony's College, Oxford and is a member of the council of the Anglo-Hellenic League. He is also a historian and author of a number of books about Greece.
